Babycat, where’s your baby at?

I ask Babycat where her baby's at. Babycat is sitting on an end table, looking off to the side, behind some boards. "My baby outwitted your babyproofing and I can't fit in there, so thanks." I move a board and The Kitten emerges like sunshine. "Here I am!" he announces. My eyes turn to hearts and Babycat radiates hearts, too.

Yay, I finally get to tell some stories about the early days of kitten spice exploring and only being able to find him because of his mom’s intense glare down behind the boards I used to block him off from danger!

The moral of those stories is don’t try to block kittens, they are water. Except on getting out from behind things, which he assures me he could’ve done as soon as he wanted to.

They’re All So Cute Together!

The Fluffy One is asleep at his window. Babycat is sleeping on the back of the couch. The Kitten is sprawled out asleep on the seat of the couch, and The Puppy is sleeping with her chin on the arm of the couch. Overhead, the spirit of The Slinky One snoozes near his bro. I crouch down near the couch, hearts in my eyes, and say, "Look at them! They're all so cute together!" The Spider, hanging from a nearby lamp, says, "Wait 'til they wake up."

Okay, this all has kinda happened and they’re all very cute together when they’re awake, but, you know, it’s jarring having a wee grey tiger come running up in your face, especially if you’re a nearsighted fluff panther. Also when a puppy nearly sits on you because you match her favorite rug and you’re on her favorite rug, OMG I’ve heard so much hissing. They’re awesome, though. That window is their favorite. ALL of them.

He’s Still Adjusting.

The Fluffy One shouts out the window to Uncle Papa, "Ghost Cat! I say, hello?" Uncle Papa looks around, saying, "Oh no, what?" Meanwhile, The Slinky One is hovering near his bro and asks, "Whoa, Bro, you can see me?!" "Ghost Cat, you must take back the daughter and the kitten!" The Fluffy One tells Uncle Papa. "Not cool, man," Uncle Papa replies. "She just wants a better life for her baby. The Slinky One adds, "Aww, but they're okay!" The Fluffy One arches his back and announces, "I will take it to someone higher up!" The Slinky One hovers along with him, saying, "Bro! I'm right here!"

Wow, who could’ve imagined my Fluffy Son would be extra tense about adopting a single mom and her baby? I mean, he only chased her up a tree every time they met and after she had her kitten, she chased him out of his pan, away from her baby. No, he’s not the kitten’s father, but the kitten doesn’t know that, and idolizes him, which is adorable but sad because all The Fluffy One wants to do is relax at his window and go to the pan unmolested and not have to look at other cats.

The Fluffy One sleeps at his favorite window unaware that Captain Tinycat is patiently waiting to look out the window as well.

Yes, this window. He was asleep and has no idea how wonderful this was.

I spray Feliway on things and was making progress sharing Churu with the grown-ups but instead of relating the vision of a tiger girl to something enjoyable, he thinks Churu means she’s around and can’t enjoy it. The kitten doesn’t understand Churu yet, which is odd but also good for the budget. Captain Mommy Tinycat is up to standing on my leg while I give her Churu, so maybe in a few years I’ll be able to hold her like I did at the vet when she was frozen in terror and just wanted to get home with her baby.

I hold Captain Tinycat at the vet. She is terrified.

One of us was enjoying this moment way more than the other.

Speaking of which, I’m still doing a bit of fundraising over on Ko-fi to cover the gang’s vet bills and anything left over will go to the Whisker Lickins, Churu and Feliway fund, where cats can be cats who don’t hiss at each other. https://ko-fi.com/lyndan

Fierce Tigers!

Hey! Remember Uncle Papa? He remembered us, and came back to his lawn. He still doesn’t want to deal with humans beyond a passing interest in whatever repairs are going on and fistbumps for crunchies. But Babycat got a furever home and had a kitten while he was away, so when I saw him again, I held his grandkitten up to the window, and they saw each other, and absolutely no flying flips were given. But you know I couldn’t leave it at that. THEY SAW EACH OTHER. I’m sure he’s glad he’s not going to have to fight this wee tiger for chicken bits.

At Least There’s a Parking Lot

m'Man, Grand Funk, The Woman, and The Slinky One are staring at something. m'Man looks pissed. Grand Funk asks, "Why'd she bring that baby cat in there?" "I hate that place," The Woman says. "I guess she's giving someone else a chance to kill her pets!" The Slinky One says cheerily. As the others look on, m'Man goes up to the door of the vet's office and shouts, "Little cat, get outta there!" Grand Funk says "Why, why, why, why...." In the third panel, The Slinky One says, "Well, at least they got a parking lot!"

Mondays, am I right?

Vaccinations and all the things that have to be done to cats to keep them healthy and alive for as long as possible SO WE THINK even though you’re looking at four possible combinations of how it doesn’t matter and everyone ends up the same and do I have anxiety about taking the cats out of the house in a carrier and a car for strangers to poke them and possibly lose them? What makes you ask that?
