New Year’s Gathering

Everyone is gathered on the couch. My Mum is playing with her phone. My Nan is reading a catalog with a magnifier. The Spider is snoozing in a corner, holding a bottle. The Kitten is climbing the drape behind us, using my head as a step. "I don't know what a new year does, but I'm going to climb all over it!" he announces. The spirit of The Slinky One is hovering nearby, telling him, "Okay, you can get higher, go for it!" Babycat is lounging on the back of the couch, watching her kitten and purring. I'm holding The Fluffy One on my lap and The Puppy is curled up on the couch next to me. "Are cats gonna drop on us at midnight?" she asks. "Indeed, cats may drop from above at any moment, prepare for the jumping!" The Fluffy One replies.
